La Musique Classique

If you're in the greater Los Angeles area, at loose ends tonight and can't round up any enthusiasm for navigating through hordes of gum-popping teenagers at the Gigaplex, why not check out the Long Beach Symphony? Tonight's opening performance of the 07-08 season, "Rugged Romantics" features works by Smetana, Sibelius (une femme adores Sibelius!) and Brahms.

The conductor, Enrique Arturo Diemecke, is a delight to watch and seems to have a great rapport with the musicians. Watching the performances, one gets the impression that everyone seems to be enjoying themselves immensely.

Tickets are available for a range of seats and prices, so check it out. Hope to see you there!

(And in case you need more motivation, this is a great excuse to Dress Up a little bit here in Tackytown.)
