got myself some fun black-feathers-and-jet shoulder-dusting (I exaggerate a wee bit) earrings a few years ago and I think I'll be getting more wear out of them with the feathered trend -- a more modest way of participating!
You know, I'm hesitant to go there because I don't like this preoccupation our culture has with critiquing women's bodies. I'm fine to critique someone's fashion choices, because that's something most of us have a lot more control over. I will say while I love the quirkiness of the headpiece and think it fits perfectly with the character, the dress just isn't the most flattering choice for her.
I did comment over at Manolo's that many of we femmes d'un certain ages do look better with a few more pounds, and nature generally assists us with that. I think women look most beautiful when they are comfortable in their own skin, regardless of age or size.
The other think I think may shock us about those pictures is that they probably haven't been photoshopped to smooth out the wrinkles. We forget what age looks like. She probably looks pretty normal for a woman of her age who's very thin, and we're not used to seeing that in the media without the image having been altered.
SJP?
ReplyDeleteYep.

ReplyDeleteSeems to Miss J that they'd be mighty fragile and likely to shed after very little use.
ReplyDeleteOh, no doubt. I have to believe even SJP's Ferragamo bag would start to shed pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteThink materfamilias' earrings might be a better idea...
Forget the purse! Is that a hoopskirt under that dress?!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking more starched petticoats, like the ones my sister and I were wearing here:

You know, looking at that skirt again, I think you might be right about the hoops...
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think Manolo's right in that she's too thin?
