I wantered over to your blog from the Purse forum (I'm LaurieAnn) and was blown away to be met by the Diva clip. I am une femme d'un certain age myself and Diva was the first foreign film I ever saw. It was showing at the only art house cimema (now sadly defunct)in the town where I attended my junior year of college and I went to see it at least four times.
I look forward to reading your posts on traveling in France. I've not yet had that pleasure but am thinking about it in 2009 or 2010.
Hi Pseub ! I can't believe it ! You know this film of JJ Beineix in USA ? Have you seen it in french with subtittles or in english ? At this time (1981) Diva had a great sucess in France. Not from the press but from the public. A friend of mine was acting in the film (a very small part) and he die (I mean in the film !). This movie was a no money film.
But you know Beineix is a little weird and after his career went up an down.

If you go to Paris, I will give you my secret places !
Yes, I saw it first in 1981, and have loved and remembered it ever since. A few months ago they released on DVD, so I had to buy it and watch again. The cinemotography, c'est tres, tres belle!
Nous arriviron à Paris en Octobre, would love to meet you for a coffee!
This is wonderful-- the film was recently screened in Chicago.. Thanks for posting :) I need this to get me through the rest of the week! Merci encore ~

Hi LaurieAnn! Glad you enjoyed. "Diva" is my favorite movie of all time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pseu! I loved this movie so much I named one of my sons for the boy... Jules.
ReplyDeleteOH! How lovely! One of my favorite pieces of music, and one of my favorite movies. What a nice way to start off my week.
ReplyDeleteSo, so lovely. I love this film.
ReplyDeleteAnother brilliant film that I would love to re-watch is "Meeting Venus".
Maybe it's time for some Netflicks action!
