For those with more money than sense...

Jimmy Choo, $1650.

I'm not saying it's not cute. It is. But it does look remarkably like the one my parents bought for me in the gift store at Yosemite when I was ten years old, and I'm pretty sure it didn't even cost $16.50.

  2. indeedy...i can recall similar at the gift shops traveling on vacations through the southwest.

have you also noticed that moccasins are really in...not only the short ones but the ones up to the knees and pricey...

always ahead of the fashion curves(read VOGUE as a teen) i recall wearing them waay back in high school. i just loved being different...lol. i even had a pair that was a lovely shade of burgundy :)

  3. Yikes! Money sure can't buy taste. I hope this one isn't a big seller; maybe it will encourage them to stick with the classics.

  4. It looks like a bag SJP might use.
Not only is this NOT practical $$-wise, the shape and size are also a waste.

  5. Karen - glad you enjoyed. But if this bag sells, it's Jimmy Choo who will be laughing all the way to the bank! :-)

good life - I think there are some "fashion" moccasins that are pretty pricey, but I think you can still get the basic Minnetonka's at pretty decent prices.

  6. Countess - I can't imagine anyone in their right mind who would buy the bag at that price. I'll bet it ends up on Bluefly or Nordstrom Rack. Let's hope....

    susan - very true!

  7. Gosh, haven't the Native Americans had enough cultural appropriation?? If somebody really wants a Native American style beaded purse, purchase one from a Native American. You will get a higher quality bag and help a craftsperson instead of lining Jimmy Choo's pockets.

  8. Is there an emoticon for "choking with outrage"? Yes, buy a real one and contribute well over $1000 to a good cause.

  9. To think, a cow or two had to die to make that bag...

  11. For $16.50, I could have gotten this purse, a flocked pony with rabbit fur mane, and a postcard book in any Gatlinburg, TN gift shop circa 1985. In fact, I'm guessing our whole vacation didn't total $1650!

    Love your blog as always!

  12. Seriously sometimes you have to wonder - i mean i like the whole aztec thing but no that is just wrong - i saw the most amazing dress recently and then i saw the price a couple of days ago - who are the retailers aiming at - i am not the most frugal of shoppers but sometimes i find it actually ugly it is so ridiculous xx
