This is my new "H en Voyage" scarf. I spotted this one at the boutique a couple of weeks ago while out with my
Purse Forum friends, and couldn't resist once I saw those colors. It's a smaller (70cm) silk square, and the fabric is softer and more "slippery" than the standard size
carrés. The design features old-style suitcases stacked to form an "H".
Edited to add: here's a link to the scarf on the Hermès website, so you can see the whole thing.

Very nice. And as soon as it warms up a bit here and I can bear to bare my neck again I'll try that knot too!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking only this week that I'm sure the quality of the silk in Hermes scarves has changed. I have two carres from about 1986 that are made of a much more robust heavy silk than my latest purchase from about five years ago, which is still good quality but lacks that extra bit of body in the quality of the silk.
lovely scarf and the colors of this outfit work nicely for you.
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful thursday...
gp - these vintage-sized silk and cotton foulards are *great* for warmer weather when you don't want a lot of bulk around the neck. (We're having another warm spell this week.)
ReplyDeleteInteresting, your observation about the silk quality. My oldest scarf is probably 6-7 years old, and does have slightly more body than some others. But I've also noticed that some from the same season have slightly different body; I've observed that the more different colors in the scarf, the more body or stiffness it seems to have.
Good Life - thank you, and to you as well!
ReplyDeleteI love green. The design sounds interesting. Can we see the scarf laid out flat?
ReplyDeletePseu: What gorgeous colours on you!
ReplyDeleteThe 70cm is a good size for warmer climates, too.
GP: When I asked the local boutique about this (mine have been acquired over 24 years)they said the momme is the same but dyes and finish can vary. Some do seem to have a lot of sizing while others are quite soft.
Great color for you. I admit I'm jealous. Green is a favorite color and I can't wear it.
ReplyDeleteInspiring once again,
So perfect on you -- you must be really pleased with this one!
ReplyDeleteScarf great....earrings fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThe perfect finishing touch. *Perfect*.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a great sense of style. Laura
ReplyDeleteDeja, Duchesse - I would also have thought that the dye might have something to do with it, but it's not the softness or stiffness I'm referring to; that, I think, comes with age. My oldest one is also the softest, but it's also the heaviest, ie. just has more body to the silk.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's just an observation, and certainly wouldn't stop me from acquiring (aka buying) another in the future!
Nice colors!
ReplyDeleteGood to know you like that new scarf size. The traditional carres can be much of a muchness. Thank you for the link showing the design--too cute! Calls out to be worn en voyage a Paris. And, as usual, you picked the best colorway. It's definitely YOU!
ReplyDeleteGreat colour for you Deja!
ReplyDeleteLove that green.
ReplyDeleteCouture Allure - I've added a link to the Hermès website which is a far better picture than I'd be able to provide.
ReplyDeleteDuchesse - thank you, and yes I find that for 5-6 months of the year here it's often too warm for the full-size carrés. This is a great way to wear it without a lot of material on the neck.
Frugal Scholar - Thanks! Green is my favorite color. I'd bet there's a shade of green out there somewhere that you could wear. Maybe something cooler, more emerald?
ReplyDeletematerfamilias - thank you, and yes I'm thrilled!
Belle de Ville - thank you!
ReplyDeleteSue - thanks!
Laura - thank you, you are too kind!
ReplyDeleteWendyB - thanks!
Daffodil - thank you. This one will definitely go to Paris with me, whenever that "next time" happens.
Imoten - thank you! Green has always been my favorite.
ReplyDeleteMiss Janey - thanks!
Imogen. Sorry about that!
