The exact thought that crossed my mind when I was tempted by red satin shoes recently..
I also have a pair of white Tod's ballerina shoes with black line drawing (which came in a brown silk bag with orange line drawing replicating the shoes' pattern). Everytime they see light of day, the same question arises.
Methinks the answer is - chauffeur driven limo. ;-)
Maybe a French girl could tell you since they can wash their dog and not get wet according to one book I read, I don't recall which one of my many French Women books. You could try spraying them with a spray that is made for that purpose. I forget exactly what it is called.
I definitely understand the temptation to buy them, they are gorgeous! for keeping clean.. no real clue. I'm definitely in for the "I'd wreck them first time out" group...
All - glad to know it's not just me who's hard on shoes. I'll pass on these.
Duchesse - yes, on the whole they're probably stiffer than those brands, more comparable to Stuart Weitzman in terms of structure. I've had some of their tumbled leather loafers in the past that were quite soft and comfortable.
There is only one way to keep those shoes clean - don't wear them!

ReplyDeleteTry levitating above the ground?

ReplyDeleteso cute, but they wouldn't last an hour in my life!
ReplyDeleteI say to wear them only indoors and even then only after mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.

If they are fabric, could you not Scotch-Gard them? Well, that and only wear them on sunny days and step very, very carefully :)
ReplyDeleteYou wear them on your wedding day. That's when Prince Charming carries you over the threshold.
ReplyDeleteScotchguard and wear somewhere really clean like... a museum?
ReplyDeleteWas just looking at Talbot's shoes, they seemed so stiff to me, compared to Tods, Arche, Ecco.

Walk from the car to the office building, sit in a carpeted cube all day, walk back to the car. No errands allowed!
ReplyDeleteConversely, TOTES waterproofing spray has saved all my boots and shoes this winter. Great stuff, but I think it's only for leathers.
Who cares about keeping them clean when they're less than @25! Go for it!
