Excellent Shoes

If I had Laurie Anderson's musical talent and a funky electronic fiddle, I'd write a song about these shoes.

New shoes, Excellent Shoes.

(See me walk.)

Three inch heels, excellent heels...

(I can wear 'em!)

Rising up...

I don't fall down!

(Walk around all day!)

This is the picture...

Sofft "Franchesca" $108.

  1. I'm going to have to try this brand. Now that I think of it, I have NEVER seen any of these in a thrift shop, which means that people don't donate them. A good sign as far as comfort goes.

By the way, have you washed your chico's tee shirt? I have not been too happy with the longevity of their tees. The website claims they are made with top quality cotton, so perhaps they've rectified this issue.

  2. Nancy - these particular shoes look even better in person (some of the Sofft shoes look a bit cheap, IMO) and I cannot get over how comfortable they are (and they look great).

Frugal - I can't vouch for all of their shoes, but these and another pair of sandals I bought are amazingly comfortable.

I didn't buy the white Chico's tee, but I did buy one in heather grey and one in brown. I've worn and washed both a couple of times and they're holding up well so far.

  3. (chiming in) I like Sofft shoes myself, Pseu, they are great for travel walking, when you walk for hours at a stretch on cobbled streets---I have also found heels that do not kill me to wear (!) with Cole Haan--those g-force Nike air shoes are remarkable, and really good-looking--the only proviso is that you have to try them on-- the special sole seems to make them fit a half-size smaller, so you should go a half size up. Also they are pricey, but if you are sneaky/cheap like me, you try them on in a store, then run home and look for them on ebay, where you can find some real deals. Give them a shot in the shoestore though--they have revived my long moribund interest in pretty high heels.

  4. Wow! A three-inch heel you can be comfortable in? Priceless!
And what a great leg-lenthening colour those are -- not quite a nude, but quite light. And they'll go with everything, all summer. Good find!

  5. Love it! Your lyrics are so cute, and I can picture up on stage like Laurie singing about your shoes.

And thanks for the vid, Laurie has always been one of my style icons!

those look lovely, and such a good price if they look nice (not cheap) in person. Lucky you!

  7. A heel you can walk in, isn't that a rare find? It seems to be all about balance.

  9. Love your alternate lyrics! There are also a bunch of adorable Laurie Anderson PSA's from the 80's on youtube that are must see.

  10. I saw Laurie Anderson perform at the Beacon Theater way back in the 80's when I still lived in NY. She was fantastic!

    (I like the shoes, too!)
