No, I actually wasn't trying to re-create my childhood "do," and yes, I think it needs to be just a bit longer. But I'm happy to have the sides grown out enough to even up the length all around.
As it happens, I'm going through the exact same process now. Mine's more of a blunt cut though.
Belle, I also had the same cut as a kid. In my case, my mom was thinking convenience. My sister and I both had baby fine hair that knotted if you looked at it. And tender scalps. We finally got to grow it long when we were old enough to take care of it ourselves.
All my grade school pics show clearly that good hair products for curly hair were not developed 'til more recent decades! You look so perfectly groomed, not a hair out of place! Today's softer look suits you very well -- what a pretty cut and it's probably easy to look after as well.
I'm way overdue for a cut and I can't decide what to do. I like a bob too, but I have to be careful with my curly hair or I get the "Roseanne Roseannadanna" thing going on.
Yes, I had that childhood haircut as well, but my bangs were always cut crooked...looking back now I thing it was a good look for me then, it fit my personality! Crooked bangs and all. Love the new bob on you, with the glasses it's perfect.
Rita - thanks, yes they seem to grow so much more slowly than the front and back.
Modest Mom - thank you, yes it's been varying shades of red for the last 25 years. Right now I have a lot of gold highlights, but may go back to a brighter red.
Belle - I know what mine was thinking: I don't want to have to comb the tangles out of this kid's hair! :-D
Orane - merci bien. Vous etes très gentille!
Nancy - same here. Very fine, flyaway, easily-tangled hair. The only time I've ever really had it past my shoulders was in high school. Then I decided my mother was right (well, about my hair anyway) and have kept it various styles of short ever since.
Anne - thanks! "Then's" bangs would probably look awfully silly on me now!
LPC - thank you!
dollcannotfly - thanks! If I had your hair I'd do a short, layered cut a la "Amelie", but that's me. I think your hair looks pretty good in its current style. Lovely curls, me envy!!!
Can you stand another compliment? Terrific!!! Beautiful! I love how the bangs are broken up and contrast with the sides. (I like the classic China Doll bob too but this one is perfect on you.) Orane has made an important distinction for us all; this is an elegant look.
Forget the hair... how do you keep your skin looking so good??? I'm 35 now but I have a feeling I will be very wrinkly when I get to my 50s. May I ask what your regimen is? Have you done a post on this topic? TIA!
A pretty cut on a very pretty woman... I did like the very short cut you were considering a while back, but this is lovely as well, and like so many short cuts, looks so polished with clothes... shows up the neck and shoulder so cleanly. I love it!
Geez Pseu, you look fab. Is this a new cut? Is that what you're showing us? I love it. You look sexy. I love the childhood photos. You have to teach me how to scan. I've got some good ones too.
mary-scott - I'm going to credit genes, never smoking and wearing sunscreen from about age 35 on. I've actually been doing some experimenting with some less expensive skincare recently, and will do a post soon.
Your "now" bob is so flattering on you! Wish I had your hairdresser out here for me. I'm going to send you a picture of my "then" bob. We could be twins LOL!
I like "now" better.
ReplyDeleteSeriously -- great haircut. I really love it on you.
Cute! I find the sides are my biggest problem.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Does you hair have a touch of red to it?
ReplyDeleteYou and I both had the same bob when we were young. What were our mothers thinking?
ReplyDeleteI think your hair looks great now.
Voilà une jolie petite Américaine devenue une élégante dame. J'adore votre coupe Pseu!

It's really pretty on you--shows off your eyes! And your hair's such a great color.

Love your current cut, it looks very good. I don't know what my mother was thinking, either-- she gave me one awful cut after another.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks beautiful! And so flattering. Then was pretty cute but now's bangs are a much better look on you ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the bangs with the glasses.
ReplyDeleteIt looks GREAT! I love it.

ReplyDeleteOh la la! C'est tres jolie.
ReplyDeleteMIss J is loving the longer hair on MIss Pseu. Miss Psue shouldn't be so camera shy. She is a lovely lady.
I love the "now" hair but those little bangs on "then" are charming!

ReplyDeletematerfamilias - thank you. Yes, this falls into place with a little blow drying. Easy-peasy.

:-D

Deb - it's hard to get those bangs straight! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSal - thanks so much.
Miss Janey is too kind.
WendyB - it helps to be six years old. ;-) At that age, everything is cute.
A very nice cut and color that compliments you in every possible way !
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous. A wonderful cut that suits you down to the ground.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love it! I don't even think you need to grow it out. Very chic!
ReplyDeleteVery chic. It suits you nicely.
ReplyDeleteNice cut! I like the short length -- frames your face beautifully. The color is also very flattering.
ReplyDeleteLe bob is lovely on you. The colour is even lovelier in person.
ReplyDeletemetscan - thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteSue - thank you! Whether or not it's due to familiarity, I do feel "at home" in this haircut.
Kalee - thanks!
