Pintucked Cardigan, $89.Yes, another cardigan! The picture doesn't fully do this one justice. The "pintucks" (which I'd describe more as "tuxedo pleats") add interest, vertical detail and a dressy touch. The fabric, a very lightweight Merino wool, is quite soft and drapes nicely. The fit is more forgiving through the bust than the Ann Taylor sweaters I tried on recently, and it's a very flattering piece worn either buttoned or unbuttoned. It will layer nicely. Once you try this on, you'll want in several colors! (When does my shopping ban start again?)

ReplyDeleteLisa - actually I don't wear that red color well, but after Talbot's re-did their website, it's impossible to grab images in other colors to post. I'm lusting after the green, brown and black colors.
ReplyDeleteI have been longing for this one as well! Start the ban in october, that seems to be when a lot of others are starting too. Gives you a little time to get a few more staples stocked up:)

ReplyDeleteWell, as befits my nom de plume, I'd suggest the frugal way: WAIT. Talbots stuff goes on sale with great rapidity.
ReplyDeleteOf course, all the things I was eying on another site have sold out, so maybe retailers are stocking less this year.
That red color is great for me, by the way. So I'll be keeping my eye on that sweater too.
I'm making a lot of use of Talbot's new wish list function to bookmark those items I want later after markdowns.
ReplyDeleteI have a gripe on the new websites. The fashion photography shows cardis with matching shells but the shells are nowhere to be found. What's up with that? You'd think they'd want to up-sell the cardi into a set. Sheesh.

ReplyDeleteI went recently into my local Talbot's to see their "boyfriend" cardi, and was so disappointed at how cheap it looked and felt. Really flimsy knit, too tight in the sleeves, baggy pockets. All for only $69. Bleh. I ended up finding a much nicer sweater at Chico's, and for less.
Shar - it's a tempting thought, but in all honesty I already have plenty of staples. But I am probably going to pick up at least one of these.

Rubiatonta - actually is was seeing this one in person that got me interested. I never would have given it a second thought just from the website. The fabric is light, but that's what I like about it, doesn't feel flimsy, just soft.
ReplyDeleteSaw it in person too- and in the interesting blue called Mineral, a cool mid-blue. Very classy piece. Does not read as 'girly'to me... (Finally Talbots are reaching for subtlety.) Just got a 20% off card for stores or online in the mail.
ReplyDeleteDo you think you could handwash or in a sweater bag on delicate cycle? Talbots weird re their fabric care- they want you to dryclean cotton shirts. (But then you might have read my recent post abut destroying a very $$$ skirt in the machine!)
I bought this 10 days ago. Very nice in the red, and I'm eyeing other colors, too!
ReplyDeleteDuchesse - I was wondering about that blue. They didn't stock that color at my local store. I'd be hesitant to wash this only because I'd want the pleats to remain nice and flat and sharp. But we don't need to dryclean this very often, do we?

I saw this in the store and it was fab-u-lous! The detail on the front lays nice and flat and is very well made and you are right, it fits well. I liked it in the green color but was not sure it went so well with my skin tone. But the red...oh my!
