Summer weight scarves

Scarves are a great way to add some color and interest to simple summer ensembles.  I’ve had good luck finding nice lightweight summer scarves at J.Crew’s sister store, Madewell.  Above: linen ikat print, $38.

“Stonefruit” scarf, cotton/silk $38. (LOVE the colors in this one!)

Novica is a company that features handcrafted clothing, jewelry and home decor made by artisans from all over the world.  Above, a hand-woven cotton scarf in violet houndstooth, $26.49. (India)
This ruffled wrap in cotton adds a feminine touch to jeans and tee shirt.  Cotton, $49.99. (Thailand)

  1. Love your choices, especially like to support Novica. Boight several summer scarves, in quest for every simpler wardrobe, neutral plus one of these scarves feels right.

(Warning: off topic rant follows: Why isn’t there a J Crew spinoff for women, with bigger sizing, longer skirts etc. I usually like J Crew styles and fabrics but am limited to sweaters or accessories.)

  2. I love these scarves and am wistful about this “summer” I’ve heard so much about. On Market Street in San Francisco yesterday afternoon, two days after the summer solstice, I observed boots, sweaters, coats, and, yes, woolen mufflers. It was downright frigid.

It’ll warm up by October, but summer clothing will look a little peculiar then.

  3. Thank you Pseu for featuring products from the Novica website. It’s a good place to find unique items which are made by individual artisans. You’ve also succeeded in making me want another Summer weight scarf. Off to find that lovely orange and red one.

BTW, just saw Duchesse’s post and I agree 100%. I would love to see J.Crew styling in larger sizes.

  4. Had I the chance to choose one, it would be the last one. It looks like it is asking to be wrapped around!

  5. I adore scarves and those are all stunning, but my LORD it has been in the upper 90s here in DC and I can’t imagine winding a scarf around my neck. I suppose it will have to wait until cooler weather. Say, in October. Sigh.

  6. Oooh, pretty pretty!! Here the summer is too hot even for a light scarf but they’d be perfect for spring or autumn …

  7. love love love scarves…such an easy way to update an outfit…or to add color…
    that paisley is so unique!
