That song defines the genre. It's one of my top five favorites, I believe. What a lovely surprise to run across it this Sunday morning.
Pseu, I haven't heard this song in like forever. Thank you for posting it. Have a great Sunday.
The greatest treat of my newish Chevrolet is XM Radio and Outlaw Country. Who could not love great old country rock, rockabilly and the new acts in the same vein like Driveby Truckers? And yes, I have graduate degrees (3 actually) and am a suburban girl - stereotypes about audiences and quality don't apply for great music!
Marshall Tucker Band was from my hometown in South Carolina. Their height of popularity hit when I was in college. My grandparents had been to visit me and were flying home to SC, This was back when airlines would hold a plane for passengers rushing to make a connection, and Eastern held the plane in Atlanta for my grandparents. When they boarded, the only other passengers in first class were the band members. Mama, for whom life was one big cocktail party, immediately struck up a conversation with them, and the next thing you know, they were taking publicity photos at my grandparent's house (all white-columns-and-big-magnolias). They talked about using it for an album cover, but I don't think they ever did.
