Une femme has learned that when it comes to casual cotton tees, it's better to buy cheap and replace annually. Even the pricier ones fade, yellow and/or stretch out with regular wear over a season. I really like this year's Gap "Favorite" v-neck tee. Unlike the spate of tissue weight tees in recent years, the fabric on this tee has a nice weight and body, the cut is fitted but not
too fitted, v-neck is just deep enough to be flattering but not so much that it's iffy for the office (under a jacket or cardigan), length is good (and available in Petite and Tall lengths) and it's available in all of the neutral colors we count on. Navy is a nice alternative to black. At $12.50, a good value.

I love the neckline on that T. Collarbones are flattering on just about anyone and any piece of jewelry has a chance to shine. I never thought of the GAP as a source but I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteGap is good for basic t-shirts and stuff, and they often have a deal on if you buy 2 or more at once. I quite like Uniqlo too.

ReplyDeleteI've been wearing Gap tees for years. They're definitely great, and since I wear a lot of white tees, I don't feel bad if I have to toss a stained one.
ReplyDeleteConcur! Buy cheap, buy often is the right strategy for tees. And my current favorites are also GAP, if I'm not mistaken:).

I do buy petite options when they are offered...Banana Republic has some nice tees too, but pricier...so your GAP finds are a win win in my books.
I might give this one a try but tend to avoid V neck tees -- a jewel neck is better for me.

ReplyDeleteI love that this comes in tall lengths, but wish the sleeves were a bit longer. I'm currently wearing Chico's elbow sleeve v-neck tees that I got last year on a buy-one-get-one-free sale; so they ended up being $12 each. A nice heavy knit fabric too.
ReplyDeleteThere are reasonably priced T´s that last a year, elsewhere too. For me, Repeat ( Danish ), is a trustworthy brand.

ReplyDeleteI happened to be in the mall today and decided to go into The Gap and check these out. I tried them on and decided to get two v-necked white ones. They were marked $14.00. When I got to the check out, they only charged me $8.00 for each.
ReplyDeleteI also bought two white tank tops and a pale pink one at Chico's I had tried them last year and liked the fit and durability. They are considerably more--$24/each, but what can you do?
I usually do throw away white t's from the previous summer. I have checked and my Chico's tank from last year is still ok.
Long sleeved Gap t-shirts are my fall/winter staple for weekends at our farm.
Would like to add that they're not so easy to find in the stores - they sell out very quickly, particularly the white ones. But, they have them online, once you know your size.

ReplyDeleteIf you are in the UK, good old M n S are doing quite nice cotton Ts at 2 for £10 (£6 each if bought separately). Not a bad and good colours.

ReplyDeleteI bought a nice three quarter length sleeve T at Chico's today. It has some spandex in it. I would have to go back upstairs to check the price. I've always thought Chico's things were a bit pricey for the iffy quality, but I've been very pleased with their t-shirts--and their jeans. Unfortunately, their fabric for other items are not always the best.
