In case you’ve been pondering whether to dip a toe into the colored pants trend but are reluctant to make a J Brand-level committment, Talbot’s is currently offering pants 20-40% off depending on how many you purchase. I have a pair of these ankle cords in “Vixen” (and am wearing today!). They are also available in Petite, Women’s and Women’s Petite sizes.  (Take THAT, J Brand!)

In addition to the ankle length, Talbots also offers the colored cords in straight leg and curvy bootcut styles.

Has anyone else been able to get into the Target.com website to peruse the Missoni goodies?  Me either.

  1. The J-Brand cords I bought were pricey, yes, but they fit fabulously. The trade-off, of course, was that I bought them in a more sensible colour (the cognac you featured last post) than something I’d be happy with for only a season or two — the Target option would be much better for that.

  2. J. Crew is having a 20% off sale on denim and cords, today and tomorrow online only. I checked out the Target Missoni items at 7:00 am EST. I didn’t buy any of the clothing as I find it a bit too bold for me. I did like the bedding collection. Do you think Missoni will diminish the cache of their brand by selling similar items at Target?

  3. Got to my local Target at 8:10 this morning, and there was virtually nothing left. I did get two scarves, a blouse (that I later returned) and a dress/tunic that I will wear with leggings – my first venture into leggings – or tights. There was a lot of mindless shopping going on. A mother and daughter team had what looked like thousands of dollars of merchandise in two piled-up carts. Either they are going to be all Missoni all the time or they are resellers on EBay. There definitely wasn’t enough merch in any of the stores. I ended up going to the three closest to me (I was out for a doctor’s appointment), and none had anything left by 11:00 a.m. No merch for lunchtime shoppers. No clothes, no bedding, no towels, no dishes, no shoes, no accessories. Added to the website’s TOTAL failure, this is bad publicity for Target, for sure.

  4. I do not know why..but I am just not into the colored pants…maybe today’s pics from Every Body Every Wear will change my mind. Also, another blogger said she was at Target this morning at 8:10 and Housewares and Women’s clothes were already gone! I haven’t been able to get on the website just to look!!

  5. @JerseyGirl I love the some of the colors of the J.Crew pants, but they only offer limited styles in Petite sizes.

I think Missoni will still retain their lustre as a high end brand. The Target collaborations haven’t diluted the caché of Proenza Schoeler or most of the other brands who have done lines for them.

  6. @SewingLibrarian Yes, I could tell our local store would be a mob scene too, so skipped it. I’ll bet those folks were ebay resellers. It really was bad form of Target not to anticipate the level of demand, especially after they’d hyped this line so thoroughly.

  7. I only buy J Brand when they’ve got stuff on the Outnet – otherwise too pricey to justify. When I decided to buy coloured jeans (red!), I went a cheap and cheerful option ($20), figuring I’d only wear them for a couple of seasons. The fit isn’t superb, but it’s good enough. I try to save my expensive purchases for things I’ll wear for years.

  8. I may give Talbot’s another chance, but most of their pants do not fit me at all. When you are plus size, they seem to assume that you have big thighs. Most of the pants end up looking like jodphurs on me.
I went to Target, but not many seemed interested in the Missoni here. I was disappointed with quality vs price. Some of the home goods looked nice, but don’t fit my decorating style.

  9. I didn’t even try to get to Target today. Either in real or virtual life. The color of these jeans is very nice and far more “grown up” than the green ones I sported. I really do like colored jeans though.

  10. Went to my local Target around noon yesterday and learned from the sales staff that people had lined up long before the 8 am opening, rushed into the store and threw everything Missoni they could find into their carts, saying they planned to resell everything on eBay. Within 15 minutes everything Missoni was pretty much gone from the store. Made me decide that I do not want to own anything from this Target/Missoni collection after all.

  11. My experience was the same as yours, Mary W. I tried to check online in the morning but the Target site was down, so I had an idea that it might be fruitless to go to a store. I did anyway, on my lunch hour; all that was left were 2 adorable little girl’s coats which were being manhandled into a cart as I walked up. C’est la vie! I will continue to enjoy my Target/Phillip Lim blouses and other finds from past collections. Maybe someday I will come across a genuine Missoni scarf in my price range…!
