Holiday Cheer

Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, New Year’s…whatever you celebrate I wish you a joyous holiday season. Though our own holiday observances will be rather low-key this year, I still love seeing all of the festive decorations and lights, and am vicariously enjoying everyone’s anticipation of their own celebrations.

I’ve been thinking for a while that I want to do something to thank those of you who have hung in with une femme through the last few months of irregular posting and sporadic responses to your lovely comments. While sending each and every one of you a little gift would be my first choice, I’m going do to the next best thing: a holiday giveaway!

I’m calling it The 10 Days of Chrismukkah. (A happy medium between the Twelve Days of Christmas, and the Eight Crazy Nights of Hanukkah.)  Each day for 10 days beginning December 21st, I’ll be giving away one of my favorite and/or previously recommended products to one of you!

While I won’t be checking to see who’s been naughty or nice (and honestly, I hope you’ve been a little of both!) I will have to set up some parameters to preserve my sanity.  So here’s how it’s going to work:

  • First thing each morning, beginning next Wednesday, I’ll post the petit cadeau du jour. If you’d like to be entered to win that particular item, enter a short comment on that post. One entry per person, s’il vous plait, and please only leave a comment if you wish to be entered for that particular item.
  • Entries will close exactly 24 hours later. At some point after that, I’ll use the random number generator to select a winner, and announce within a few hours, in the body of the original post.
  • To be eligible to win, you must be a Google follower (one of les amis in the sidebar at right).
  • If you are selected as the winner, please email me with your mailing address.
  • Les cadeaux will be shipped out to winners right after New Year’s (again, in the name of une femme’s sanity). If you live in the US, it will be sent via UPS ground. Winners outside the US will be at the mercy of the postal service. 😉
  • In order to spread the joy as far as possible, I’ll be limiting each winner to one item. Once you know you’ve won something, I’ll kindly ask that you refrain from entering on subsequent days.
  • I’m not Oprah, so no cars will be given away.
So please stay tuned, and I hope this will be as fun for you as it has been for me to plan it!

  1. I applaud your give-away project. Our dear son passed away, unexpectedly, two weeks ago. He was 33. While I will not participate, I will enjoy reading about how this proceeds, I have always enjoyed your postings. I am reading only a few of my favorite sites now and hope that Your strength will hopefully seep across the web to help sustain me.

  2. Just popped in to comment on your generosity in organizing this at such a busy time of year, and I read the comment from Corrine. Devastating sadness. My heart goes out to her, and I’m moved by the power of community you’ve established here, Sue, that Corrine can find some solace here. Corrine, you are in my thoughts. I hope you are able to find the strength you need to get through this impossibly difficult here.

  3. Please tell me what happens if you are a google follower? I am reluctant to join any of the giveaways because I don’t do faceBook – and am not sure what is involved as a follower.

    Enjoy your posts very much.

Corrine, I am so sorry for your loss.

  4. Thank you for creating such a wonderful site. Always look forward to your posts popping up in my Google Reader. This sounds like such fun.
I join others in kind thoughts for Corrine and others who have lost loved ones at this otherwise joyous time of year. Always harder (if that is possible) to endure a bereavement whilst others are celebrating.

  5. So sorry to read Corinne´s news..

Your surprise is indeed a generous one!
Does this mean, that each day we comment, we are in the game?

  6. @ming Following a blog through google allows you to see a feed of blog updates. It’s a way to know that your favorite blogs have added new content. You can keep your profile private, if that’s a concern.

  7. What fun! I have entered quite a few giveaways, but never won. Maybe this will be time to win.

Corrine, I am very sorry for your loss.

  8. Dear Pseu it is so nice of you to give away products you love!

As for a low-key version of the holidays, I am all for it and send low-key seasons greetings to you and your family.

I am sorry to hear of Corrine’s loss, terribly sad. I will be thinking of her.

  9. You are a gift. I treasure your friendship and will accept delivery in the spring as planned.

I hope you have lovely holidays (although I realize they’ll be somewhat triste this year) and most of all the happiest of new years in all the ways you wish.

    xo,
    Tish
