C'est lundi...

Happy Monday, and why shouldn't it be?

Today's Fashion Flash is being hosted by The Glam Gals at Fabulous After 40. If you're looking for great style advice for women over 40, or want to know how to work the latest trends, the Glam Gals are your go-to spot.

Speaking of trends, are you hopping on board the Bright Colors train? I've seen a few pieces that are tempting, but am trying to figure out which will have some staying power. Let me know what you've found and what seems to be working with your wardrobe.

Be sure and visit tomorrow, as I'm launching a special giveaway!  And coming up later this week, another installment in Packing For Paris and Provence, and yes, we'll talk some more about SHOES.

  2. Ugh packing, I wore the same clothes for 5 days in LA, I was so cold and hadn't packed anything warm, I always get it wrong.

  3. I have packing on the brain, too, and am dreading it. I am a very poor packer.

As far as brightly colored pants go, I am embracing them big time. I wore some bright red slacks that I think are very age appropriate as well as quite fun. I posted about them on today's post. I also have some colorful skinnies that I am playing around with - those are a little more tricky to get just right.

So excited for you regarding your upcoming France trip!

as far as packing goes you are the expert. I re read all those packing posts of yours and you could hold workshops on the subject!

  5. Bright Colors--interesting but dangerous.

Whenever a trend pops up, my strategy is to go shopping in my closet. After reading your post, I found vintage scarves, shoes, bags and broaches that fit the bill.

Like many working women (nurses, police and firewomen, wait staff and cooks...) I wear a proscribed uniform that prohibits creativity. I'm trying out my Bright Color scheme on leisure and weekend clothes. Tomato red capris, hot pink J. Crew linen T-shirt and red Keen sandals are perfect for boating. I'd say proceed with caution in a professional office setting.

Last, don't forget Bright Color perfumes/scents. Perfumes evoke color.

  6. Ever the photographer, of course I spotted the big white truck in your last shot with the ET. I laugh and say that the white trucks in Paris have junked up a zillion of my photos! Now pour me a glass of that nice vin blanc svp! :)

  7. I like the bright colors. Probably wouldn't buy an investment piece in a bright color unless I felt it was really "me." I've added some brights in the following ways: a bright lipstick or cheek, a cotton cardigan from J Crew in a sea green color, colored glass jewelry, and an orange cotton casual jacket from a couple of summers ago. For me, one added bright is enough to add to my black, navy, denim, and white basics. I'm thinking of looking for a new summer tote in a color. Personal coloring and age are factors too. I'm fair with silver hair. A little pop of color seems to add a nice lift.

  8. I've collected Eric Bompard cashmeres in spring colours: leaf, cyclamen pink, sky blue, apricot, coral, avoiding both pastels and neon brights. Because spring is still cool here, they work well, signaling the season yet supplying cozy warmth. And some days I'll wear navy, springier than black.

  9. On Saturday I bought an EF tunic in linen - they call it Strawberry - I think it has a little orange in it also. I can wear now over t-shirts and in the summer over cami's.
