and not a moment too soon! My back was starting to complain about the extended stay on the sofabed. As you can see above, we still need to put up window coverings (simple drapes from Pottery Barn this time), tuck away cords and re-hang pictures. There's paper over the windows for privacy, and it makes the room rather dark. But oh, it was lovely to be back in a real bed!!
Yesterday the project moved on to petit monsieur's room, and much progress was made. The flooring is almost all in and they've begun painting.
PM chose this bright and cheerful blue for his room. I think he made a good choice!
I'll have some more pictures from le jardin up tomorrow.
On other fronts, be sure and check back early next week, as I'll be launching a special giveaway, and will have another installment in the series on packing for Paris and Provence.
I must also apologize that I have not been able to keep up with responding to all of your lovely comments. I do read each one, and truly appreciate the conversation and feedback.
Bon weekend!

I love hardwood floors. When we redid the downstairs in our house, we ripped up the old dark green carpets and had the floors redone. Who knew that under the dark varnish and stain were beautiful light oak floors? Gorgeous. And, a side benefit we did not realize was that light reflecting off the dark green carpeting had modified the perceived color on the walls and ceiling as well, so we got a 'twofer' for it. Now, having said that, I have to admit that training the family to leave their outdoor shoes in the foyer so that they don't track grit and dirt into the house which then gets ground into the floor and causes scratching and so on has been (sigh) a mixed success but I do not regret having done it.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your neat floors, makes me green of envy.
ReplyDeleteWe were planning to have our upstairs floors fixed, but there simply was no time for it.
Now, the downstairs floors need some cosmetic treatment as well, but the question is : when?
Enjoy!
Hardwood floors are my favorite and so worth any inconveinances!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteIt really looks like it's coming together. (I also love hardwood floors.) Renovation can be slow, dusty, frustrating, noisy... but I've always found it hopeful as well. Like an investment in both the present and the future. Besides - it's so great when it's done!
ReplyDeleteYour floors are lovely! Renovations are miserable but Oh, the results!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteWe have moved often, and one "temporary fix" that has proved helpful is to tape WAXED PAPER over the windows for privacy--at least you still get light this way.
My home has hardwood floors too--check out steam cleaners! I SWEAR by Eureka Enviro-Steam machine. I esp. love how fast the process is, and having NO residue or chemical cleaners involved.
Thus ends today's Home Ec tips . . .
Mean Mama, THANK YOU for the waxed paper tip! Of course the day after I posted this we had a crazy rainstorm and lost the paper that was put up on the outside. The wax paper works beautifully!
DeleteYour new floors are gorgeous - I am sure you'll enjoy them for decades! Too bad we can't be put under sedation for the "during" period, though : >
ReplyDeleteHardwood flooring was one of the requirements when we looked for houses. I never see them without feeling uplifted! Now you will too. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteGreat floors! I really like the width of those planks.
ReplyDeleteI like the warm shade that you have chosen for the flooring. It will be fun putting it all together and finding a few new things to add your personal touch to the decor. You must feel like you've got a new lease on life...I love the "after" part of renovating!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Patti that SEDATION is the way to get though a house re-do, except that the folks doing the work always seem to need supervision/guidance. I took a planned vacation while my kitchen, which had been delayed into the time scheduled for my vacation, was being re-done -- in the future I will never do that again!.
ReplyDeleteLove the wide planks.
Few home improvements are as satisfying and enduring as a beautiful floor. May all your steps on it be light!
ReplyDeleteThe floors are lovely...and I am impressed that this has all moved along fairly quickly.
ReplyDeleteYou must be dancing a jig on those lovely wood floors as you admire the new paint colors! Glad the results are what you hoped for (and that you're back in your bed)!
ReplyDeleteThe floors look wonderful! And yes, PM made a very good color choice. I'm glad to hear you're back in your own bed. It feels good getting back to ours as well.
