Monday Miscellany

This week's Fashion Flash is hosted by the Glam Gals at Fabulous After 40.  If you have questions about style after 40, and want tips to look your best, Fabulous After 40 is a great resource!

I mentioned this last week over on the Une femme d'un certain âge Facebook page (click to "Like") but am head over heels for kale as a base for Caesar salad. Kale is one of those superfoods loaded with vitamins and anti-oxidants. (Be sure to remove the spines which can be tough.) Try it!

And speaking of heels, be still my beating heart, but Roger Vivier has opened a store in Southern California!!!  The store is in the swank South Coast Plaza Mall in Costa Mesa.  Think there's a field trip (just for "research" mind you) in my near future!

We're off work/school today for the Memorial Day holiday. Hope your week is off to a fine start!

  1. Thanks for the review of kale...I think I will begin to add it to my salads...and I love the idea of reviewing a new shoe store...I need to find one in my area of the world. Have a great week ahead!

  3. Love kale, and often make salads with it - will try the Caesar.

  4. Ah, do you trim round the stem part then? I tried it and thought it awfully tough.

  5. that was a good segue from kale to shoes.

  6. We grow kale and other greens (an idea for your garden, perhaps?) and love to throw it in soups and stirfries. Ours is usually too tough to eat in salads.

  7. I can often be found staring in the window of the Roger Vivier store in Knightsbridge......

  8. Dressing for work in hot weather has been a challenge since, well since I started to work. There seemed to be two choices-- banker ( shapeless grey suits) or an extra in a beach movie (orange shorts and hot pink tank top). Last year I bought a navy shirtwaist that had short sleeves. Its not that special but everytime I wear it, strangers ask me where I got it ( It was Saks) . Its that bad out there. I'm really looking forward to following you finds.

  9. A *walk* to Vivier? I know where this will end and mmmm, dreamy. Unlike kale, to me.

  10. I found this kale salad recipe in the newspaper: salad of kale, dried cranberries, toasted pine (or other) nuts, and shaved Parmesan. Dressing of oil, vinegar, honey, salt and pepper. It's a nice mix of sweet, sour, slightly bitter, and salty tastes.

  11. Just a small note - if one has clotting issues, avoid Kale as it can cause blood clots. It is generally a healthy food for most, but must be avoided by some.

  12. Kale, quite ok in salads, imo, mixed with softer salad leaves.
I´m happy you have a new store in town, never tried on RV flats.
