Monday Miscellany

This week's Fashion Flash is hosted by Shawna at Female Fat Loss Over 40. If you're a busy woman who's looking to boost fitness, Shawna has some great tips and exercises you can do anywhere. This week's Fabulous topics include summer dresses for the office, changing SPF guidelines, super beauty foods, product reviews, and more!

And speaking of "boost," over the weekend I set out to replace my nude bras, as I had to acknowledge that the current two were stretched out and not doing me any favors. (With summer here, I'll be wearing lighter color and lighter weight tops, and nude bras work best for me.)  I've learned the value of a good and knowledgeable bra fitter, and with no time to waste, went straight to the nearest {intimacy} bra boutique. Now that I'm "in the system" the store personnel were able to look at my bra history and go immediately to those styles that were likely to work for me. And we hit the jackpot on the second one. These women really know their merchandise. It's amazing how much better my tops look with some proper underpinnings. I've also switched from a smooth cup to a seamed one and the additional support really makes a difference.

In case you hadn't heard, Sally McGraw of Already Pretty has a book coming out this Friday! There's a wild rumor that une femme is included... ;-)

N'oubliez pas, if you haven't already done so, you have until midnight tonight (Pacific time) to enter the giveaway for a full Dressing Your Truth course.  Go here to enter. Winner will be announced on Friday.

And...

Happy cilantro!
After several failed attempts, I seem to have finally hit on the right combination of sunlight, soil and water to help cilantro plants thrive. I've been pinching off a little bit every day to enjoy with a salad, or scrambled eggs.

Happy Monday!
~

  2. I live in LA also, and have NEVER been able to grow cilantro, which is undoubtedly one of my favorite herbs. Can you tell us what you did? I need to do a bra reconnaissance too.

  4. For the first time in many years, I have not worn bras at all, here at home, only a fit camisole under a T. This works for me, because I am small breasted - and it feels liberating!
But when I go somewhere, I wear my bras. Oddly, you writing about the subject, made me check my lingerie too. Might buy a new pair, if I find a nice one by Lise Charmel..
Is it rude to ask, how many pairs you have per moment, what would be an ideal amount of them for you?
As might be expected, I don´t grow any flowers nor herbs, but I´m happy to read that you succeeded this year!

    1. mette, the last few years I've found that 4 bras are all I need - 2 black, 2 nude. The black I wear more frequently in winter when I wear darker tops, the nude in warmer weather with lighter tops. I don't buy clothing anymore that requires a special bra.

  6. Just recently I threw out all my old lingerie and got fitted for new lingerie.
Its amazing the difference a well fitting bra makes to the look of clothes. I feel and look so much better. My issue is with cost of bras for us larger breasted women. Here in OZ bras are very expensive for larger cup sizes(not necessarily back size).

I had to look up to see what cilantro is. We call it Coriander.

  7. Congratulations on your inclusion in Sal's book. A must have! And cilantro is my favorite, but I don't have the formula down yet.

  8. To those of you who have asked about the cilantro, honestly I think it's mostly dumb luck and a long spell of cooler weather here near the coast. But I'll post the specifics this weekend.
