Fall Re-Boot

It was almost still too warm on Friday for this outfit but I was itching to wear my new Frye harness boots, so pulled out the leggings for their seasonal debut. (Over the weekend, I picked up some fishnet and other lightweight patterned tights, a bit less heavy.)

But I wasn't sorry. I LOOOOOOOOOVE these boots!  They were comfortable right out of the box, and add just enough edge. There are two different black finishes available; I chose the one that had a bit more shine.

The scarf was my nod to Plaidurday.

Top, Tunic, Skirt, Leggings, Scarf: Eileen Fisher (The tank top, skirt and leggings are all part of the "System" collection. My pieces are at least a couple of years old.)
Boots: Frye
Earrings: Stella and Dot
Watch: Michael Kors.
(See widget at bottom of post for more information on these or similar items.)

It's Fashion Flash Monday, and the Glam Gals at Fabulous After 40 are hosting this week.

And I'm linking up to Patti's Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

  1. The boots are amazing...I would wear them now as well (when it is almost too warm) and I like the colors you popped the outfit with.

    1. Pam, thanks! That scarf is one of those pieces that doesn't match anything exactly in my closet but goes with everything almost perfectly. I have a short window of boot weather this week before it starts warming up again...

  2. Had to follow those boots! mmmhmmm. The rest of your ensemble is very cool too and follows the boots to perfection.

  3. Those are great boots! (But I don't believe you're a short woman! You just don't look short, Pseu!)

It's certainly boot season, and last week I wore one of my fave finds - classic booties with a low 2" heel (that's low for me) - super comfy, with pants, Nine West if I remember, picked up on sale a few years ago...

I'm salivating at the thought of a run through DSW to see this season's boots, but, I'm refraining for the moment. I have been known to succumb to temptation, and there is no Temptation line item in the budget at the moment!

You really pull off this look head to toe!

    1. BigLittleWolf, boot season will be intermittent here for the next few weeks, but I'll wear them at every opportunity! And yes, I'm 5'1". When I stand up very, very straight.

    1. Amber, thanks so much. Lars is really quite a celebrity on our block. He has no fear of anyone and will roll over on his back for a belly rub even when approached by dogs on leashes. He has the most gorgeous blue eyes.

  8. I love my Eileen Fisher pieces also. I need to become more intentional and get with the system though. I haven't tried a skirt yet--that is next.

    Love the boots on you!

    1. Susan, the skirt is a great piece, but try the ponte knit as opposed to the foldover. Mine's the foldover and it's very short.

  9. The boots are great and look so wonderful on you, yes, the right amount of edge. It was so hot again yesterday, when did you wear them? This is the time of year in LA, that I just give up, don't know what to wear!

    1. Kathy Leeds, thanks! I actually wore them on Friday. The weather is so goofy right now...very cool in the mornings but then warms up during the day. We have some rain in the forecast!

  10. Ah, you and I were channeling a similar vibe today. Love your boots. I had some halter boots back in the 70's that I have always regretted getting rid of. They were so comfortable. I've tried on Frye boots, but for some reason they aren't comfortable for me.
The way you paired the boots with the Eileen Fisher pieces is so cool. Unexpected and totally cool! I think I may try to create an outfit similar to yours, that is how much I love it.

    1. Debbi, thanks so much!! Not all Frye boots fit me the same; some are too narrow for me. I was so happy that these worked. I look forward to seeing your version!

  12. Great boots! I was having a little trouble sleeping last night & so was outfit-planning in my head. I recently bought the Banana Republic black&white houndstooth pencil skirt (LOVE it), and was mentally styling it. I am retired so don't need work outfits. I pictured the skirt with any of my various cashmere sweaters in different colors, also with a slim black cardigan. But what footwear? Black ballet flats with tights? Bare legs with black suede slingbacks or pumps? Or high heeled black boots, which unfortunately I don't own? I'm thinking boots, if I can find a classic style (no platforms). Although I live in Houston, and it's usually too hot for boots here.........also usually too hot for cashmere sweaters & wool skirts! Rats!

    2. Thanks Kathleen! There are many great things about Houston, but the six months of 95+ degrees every day is not one of them. I dream of living in a temperate climate again someday!

  26. I love your Frye boots! They would definitely be a pick-up for any outfit. A pair of black Dayton boots called out to me at a thrift store the other day, and, darn, they were a quarter-size too small, even if I cut my toenails! I can only imagine how delicious those Frye's feel on your feet.
