Stealth Subversive

Sometimes we all need a bit of Attitude to get through the day…
Wendy B “IDGAF” Necklace

I’ve loved Wendy’s Swear Rings since she first introduced them, but knew they’d be just a bit too “in your face” for me to wear on a regular basis. So when Wendy created these IDGAF necklaces (in silver and gold), I knew this was a bit of personal Attitude (with a side of humor) I could adopt for my own. Small enough to fly under most radar, it’s a pretty gold necklace that doesn’t take %@&^ from anyone.

If your mood is a bit more direct, there’s always STFU or GTFOH. If you want to express your disdain without resorting to salty language, you could opt for SRSLY?. Or maybe you’re just feeling a bit SULKY about the whole thing. Whatever, Wendy has you covered.

Or maybe you’d just like your initials. Wendy can do that too.

  1. Oh My!
Since you ask what we think I’ll be honest.
I’d look for a different way to express attitude. I couldn’t wear these.
I’ll look forward to what others think.

  2. I think it is just the right touch of subtle “bad-ass” that I need to get through a certain sort of day. I love it and can’t wait to share with my sisters. Thanks for a good chuckle.

  3. I love them. They don’t exactly exemplify my attitude overall, but at times…when dealing with impossible people, it would be fun to reflect on the necklace and reset my attitude.

They’re fun and not to be taken too seriously.

    Want the swear rings badly!

  4. I so love that you’re wearing this. It looks sex-ay on you — we got the length right for sure! It’s my favorite of my own necklaces to wear right now and IDGAF what anyone thinks of that! 😉

  5. That necklace looks so good on you! It’s delicate and full of ‘tude! I’m so envious of you Wendy Brandes brandishers! Her jewelry is such a great mix of fun fashion and quality- I want a swear ring, god damn it!

  6. Words are powerful….I think I’d choose something with a positive acronym. 🙂 I enjoy encouraging and empowering others to live a beautiful life so I’m not sure I would be comfortable giving people this message about me. Sure is a cute style though. Someone is going to ask what it means and I wouldn’t want to be the one to have to tell them. 😉

  7. I generally frown on swear words, but there have been occasions in my life where this necklace would have been so appropriate, and would have made me feel better. 🙂

To Anonymous 4:11: Google any of them and you’ll get your answer.

I do think the SRSLY? one is cute, and would probably consider it if I was jewelry-shopping.

    1. You’re right, it could be interpreted either way. It’s clever though and I do like a lot of her jewelry. The “remodel” of your wedding ring is one of the best I’ve ever seen.

  8. To each one’s own, I suppose. Not something I’ll be encouraging, particularly here in the Washington DC area, where bad attitudes are rampant and lack of civility is par for the course.

  9. I can’t believe you are wearing this and I love it. Trust me that is exactly what I feel like right now! Younger set my butt!

  10. I love Wendy’s work and that you are supporting her as an artist by wearing it. I’m going through a multiple-ring phase right now and am considering the swear rings. To me, they actually seem LESS in your face than the necklace. Perhaps because the reader can fill in any word for the symbols, but the letters generally only mean one phrase?

In either case, IDGAF is about YOUR attitude, and not a reflection on the reader, so those who take offense are revealing more about themselves than about you 🙂

  11. I am dying to buy the STFU necklace, but am pretty sure it would not be a hit at the office 😛 I love these necklaces, and am so glad you shared yours. Perfect!

  12. It looks great on you! I love Wendy’s jewellery and treasure my own Sulky necklace. I probably need the IDGAF myself, because I use that phrase quite a lot in my life!

  13. It makes me smile! I love that it’s worn by a smart woman of a certain age–not the younger set. It’s cheeky and adds complexity to the whole picture.

I love looking at WendyB’s work, and especially love seeing you wear it!

  14. Quite the uproar you’ve caused among your readers! I love Wendy’s work and own (and proudly wear) her swear rings! The necklace is beautiful on you; just the right amount of attitude in a lovely, delicate piece of jewelry. I’m saving up for the “SRSLY” one.

  15. What a bunch of “pooh-poohs”. I think you look awesome. And a sassy attitude is the best. Plus I DO use this word and love the design. But then again I have the swear rings and have worn them to work and to conferences. People love them. These words wouldn’t be around if they weren’t powerful, useful and evocative. Wear your necklace with pride!

  16. Interesting re. the strong reactions! I myself love the swear rings, and think these are funny. However, I could wear them neither at work nor around my kids, so I wouldn’t get them for myself. I think it’s great you got this necklace!
