Eye Liner Tutorial

This is the technique I use to apply eyeliner (except with soft pencil rather than brush) which delivers the look of more defined eyes and thicker lashes without a hard line.

And before you apply any eye makeup, be sure to curl your lashes! Nothing else I've found makes me look more alert and awake, and really opens up the eyes. Right after I blow dry my hair, I use the dryer to warm up the curler for 3-5 seconds (a little warm, not HOT), which I think makes the lashes curl more easily and hold the curl longer.

Do you use eyeliner? Which is your favorite?

  2. I loved watching this - he makes it look easy. I just use a matte dark brown eyeshadow as eyeliner, applied with a fine brush.

  3. Very nice! For those of us(me!) who wasn't blessed with long lashes, I need all the help I can get!
I'm totally gonna try to warm up the curler tomorrow. :)
I use Lancome pencil liner, but I'm always experimenting with other brands, too.

  4. I've got to try the "tightlining" technique. I use a very good gel from Ulta and a super-skinny brush.

  5. I love the blow dryer/eye lash curler tip! I am trying that today.

  6. I use a mac eyeliner, but I think it might be looking a bit harsh, might try the brush/shadow option, my eyes are getting smaller and smaller, I don't know if eyeliner is a good option anymore.

  7. I use a dark eyeshadow, with a fine angled brush and make sure to push it, gently into the lash line. An eyelash curler is something I've never tried - but I keep reading about it, so I should!

  8. I use this technique with Urban Decay's 24/7 liner in Whiskey (dark warm brown). I'm surprised to find success with such a "youthful" brand at age 44, but it's a great product.

  9. I've used this technique since the last time you posted this video, only with my trusty Cover Girl eye pencil in charcoal grey. Many thanks for changing my morning routine for the better! I thought of this while watching your recent posting on a makeup routine, because it fits so well with that "definition" mantra. Tightlining works like a treat -- a useful repost.

  10. Make sure the pads on your eyelash curler are in good shape. One time when I squeezed down on my curler I chopped my lashes off... :(

  11. I am completely lost without my Sheisedo eyelash curlers. I use them every morning.

  12. I use Bobbie Brown gel eyeliner with a skinny brush. It's a great product. I especially like that I can start in the middle of my eyelid, which for some reason is easier for me.

  13. Oh, THANK you for this tutorial! I usually go for more of a thicker line, but I love how natural this looks. I will definitely be trying it.

  17. Great tutorial. I use either black or dark brown cake eyeliner from Laura Mercier. I am almost out and I will try the gel liner and his technique. I need a new eyelash curler and I think I'll up grade to the She Umera(sic) brand which was the one used in your last make up tutorial.

  18. When I remember or am disciplined enough, I use Lancome kohl pencil, it's soft and comes in pretty colours. No curler; women with curly hair sometimes have lashes that curl enough. Sometimes curlers give women weird bent lashes.

  19. I definitely use eyeliner! At the moment is Lancome kohl pencil in black or a dark brown liquid one by a Finnish brand called Lumene (very easy to apply).

  20. Imo, the girl looked pretty before and after; ).
I have never even tried the curler, liking things to be simple, but I do use a kohl pencil, also as an eyeshadow.
My makeup stuff is all by Chanel, great colors.
The tutorial was fun to watch, thank you.
