Workday Edge
Another accessory that always gets compliments is this Hermès “Collier de Chien” bracelet. This was a vintage piece purchased from Beladora 2 a few years ago.
Head to toe:
Earrings: LAUREN Ralph Lauren, here.
Scarf: Nordstrom brand, here.
Sweater: Eileen Fisher, couple of years old. Similar shape.
Tee: Eileen Fisher, here.
Cuff: Vintage Hermès. More vintage bracelets here.
Pants: Eileen Fisher, here. Also available in Plus and Petite. (I really love these and wear them multiple times per week. They’re flattering, comfortable and machine washable.)
Boots: purchased in 2008, similar style.
Is there an accessory or garment in your wardrobe that always gets compliments?

I really love this look! It’s so stylish.
Gerry Weber, thanks so much!
Lovely! The scarf is gorgeous, and wow, what a selection of colors. You look ready for work, with a dash of Paris!
Patti, thank you! I really love this scarf and may go back next month to pick up another color.
Cold or no cold, a scarf, chère amie, is in-dis-pen-sa-ble! Love your Hermès Collier de Chien bracelet. It makes quite an impression. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
Veronique, merci bien! And I agree about the scarves.
Color’s great with your hair!
LPC, thanks!
Polished and lovely. Your scarf is tied perfectly, too. Please, what is the secret to this? I can’t seem to get it right.
Susana A, thank you so much! Here’s the “how to” for the scarf:

You just have to play with it until you get everything arranged where you like it. 😉
Thank you so much…I am having better results now!
I knit, and it’s my one of a kind hand knit wraps and shawls that get all the love.
ellen kirkendall, I have such awe for some of the fabulous pieces you knitters turn out!
My pearls seem to receive the most compliments….
I am heading to Nordstroms and plan to look at that scarf. The colour suits you and my goodness you are looking svelte!
hostess, you really do have some lovely pearls. This scarf is definitely worth trying, and with so many colors it’s hard to go wrong.
The scarf is lovely on you! I hope it will still be in the shops when I am visiting New York in september
Anonymous, I do think Nordstrom’s has some version of this scarf year round. September is a beautiful time to visit New York!
Thank you for your advise Pseu! We visited New York last year in september and we enjoyed it very much. Met up with a Dutch cousin and his American wife, my husband had not seen him for 40 years!
I tried to identify with my Google account, but didn’t succeed. My name is Ellen, from Brussels, I don’t want to be an anonymous with you! Have a nice weekend!
Glad to see more outfit post from you. I just love your polished casual style. This is a very difficult look for me to achieve, but you always look fabulous.
Lisa, thank you!
You’ve accessories are perfect.. The scarf and bracelet work well and I really like the RL jacket.
Leslie, thank you!
Flattering comfortable, washable: the Holy Trinity of modern clothes. That is a gorgeous coloured scarf!
Duchesse, thank you so much!
It is a beautiful color Susan, and it looks great on you. I’m always surprised though that you’re comfortable wearing scarves in moderate temperatures. They make me hot in an instant.
Susan, thank you! I’m an oddity, that’s for sure. Made it through menopause without hot flashes, and I still tend to run more cool than warm.
Love this look. Classic. And the scarf is gorgeous.
D.A. Wolf, thank you so much!
You look awesome and I am so in love with that bracelet…I can see why you get compliments on it. The scarf is a perfect color for you!!
Pam, thank you! This bracelet is one of my favorite pieces.
Glad you bought the scarf, it’s lovely on you. I don’t exactly “wear” him, but I get showered with compliments on my little furball dog when I have him with me!
Sulky Kitten, thank you. Dogs are great conversation starters!
I really love that scarf, still planning on getting it in ivory. Also – great cuff, how lucky to find it vintage.
Kathy, I think you’ll like the scarf. The fabric is very light and sheer, but “grabs” and stays tied nicely.
Gal after my own heart! I love the black with pop of color! The blue scarf is a great color on you! Oh, and the bracelet!!
gracefully50, thank you! I was so thrilled to find this bracelet.
Periwinkle is definitely your color; that scarf is absolutely great on you. Really, you are looking so fit and pretty–are you onto some exercise regime we should all know about?
C.
C., thank you. I’ve always loved the color periwinkle but didn’t realize it was a good color for me to wear until last year. I’ve been “doing” Weight Watchers since last fall, but no real fitness regime other than walking dogs.
You really have hit your style stride – love it!
Tiffany, thanks so much!
You really know how to rock a scarf to it’s full advantage! I could take lessons from you.
Spashionista (Alicia
Alicia, thank you so much! I think scarves are the magic ingredient that can really make a simple outfit come alive.
I was wearing a sweater the other day that isn’t one of my favorites, but I keep it because I get so many compliments on it! I figure maybe it’s one case where people are seeing something that I just don’t see! 😀
Wendy, isn’t that funny how some clothes we don’t really care about one way or the other are the ones that other people really like on us?
Black is not good for your skin coloring. Please ditch the black makes you look OLD. 🙁
sorry
Hi Anonymous, no need to apologize for an honest opinion. 🙂
Opinions come in all shapes and sizes- mine is that I LIKE black on you- and I love that soft whispery shade of blue. But what grabbed my eye very first thing is that cuff! Ooof. Tres chic-ity-chic, yo.
Bella, I like black on me too. 🙂 Thank you so much!!
Chic, clean line, professional, and a touch flirty with the blue scarf. I like the black on you, but then how do you take a compliment from someone who wears muppet clothing? LOL.
Melanie, I’m thrilled to be complimented by someone who has the verve and audacity to wear a muppet coat!!
The studded Hermes cuff is a find! I love accessories that add an edge to your outfit! I’m very often guilty of wearing all black to work but I think your use of a coloured scarf is a great way to add an accent of colour to an all black outfit. Periwinkle looks great on you!
Veshoevious, thanks! I was thrilled to find the cuff and didn’t hesitate to snap it up. I wish there was more periwinkle out there as it’s such a wearable color.
Besides the sweet color, that scarf looks so soft and flattering. And I love your shoes!
Val Sparkle, thank you! I really think the color of this scarf is one that just about anyone could wear.
Killer scarves (and shoes!) typically make the outfit brilliant! Great choice to go back and get it!
Dawn Elliott, thank you! I’m not sorry that I did go back for it.
You look divine in black … especially with the blue near your face. Lovely shade on you, as everyone has noted. Pity it’s not often seen.
Jan, thank you! I think this is a color that looks good on so many different complexions, and it puzzles me that it’s not more frequently available.
Love your outfit! Black and blue is my favorite color combo these days. I’m a skirt nerd and get compliments on the ones that are a little off-beat. That cuff is stunning, by the way. Thanks for the inspiration!
Flattering50, thanks so much! I’m also on a blue-and-black kick; it’s so 70’s Yves Saint Laurent.
truth is we all need change. After color comes black and then colors.it’s like seasons change!
